Description

The Old Barn is a former dovecote and store associated with Sevenhampton Manor, now converted into a house. It dates from the 16th century with some 20th-century alterations. The original structure is built from coursed squared and finely dressed limestone and features a stone slate roof. There is a 20th-century extension made of artificial stone in a Cotswold style, which is not considered of special interest. The former dovecote/store is located at the end of a range of outbuildings, approximately 10 meters east of Sevenhampton Manor.

The building is a single unit with one and a half stories. It has a round-headed window with a landing platform near the top of the west-facing gable and a 20th-century dormer window from the eaves on the north side. All the windows are steel casements. A string course runs between the ground and first floors, and access is provided through a plank door in the 20th-century extension. The gable end of the former dovecote/store features slightly stepped coping with roll-cross saddles. The 20th-century extension includes drip moulds over the windows. The Old Barn forms part of a matching pair with other outbuildings located 10 meters east of Sevenhampton Manor. The interior has not been inspected.
