Description
The Dovecote is a former dovecote that has been converted into a house, dating from the 17th century with some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring large squared and dressed quoins, and has an artificial stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and includes a sympathetic 20th-century extension, which is not of special interest.
The north front has three windows, which are lit by single-light and two-light 20th-century stone-mullioned casements. There is a double-width opening that has been infilled with 20th-century glazing featuring vertical glazing bars. A tall plank door with a segmental brick head is located on the north-west gable end. The south front includes a single tall stairlight and two additional single-light windows, all with artificial stone surrounds, along with three skylights. The gable ends have flat coping with roll-cross saddles. Entry to the building is through a 20th-century plank door in the extension. Inside, a substantial number of pigeonholes have been retained.
