Description
Dovecote Cottage, located at Sheephouse, is a former dovecote and outbuilding that has been converted into a cottage. It likely dates back to the 17th century but has undergone significant modifications in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features squared and coursed limestone over a rubble plinth, topped with a stone slate roof. It is a two-storey building with a cross-gabled dovecote and a 1½-storey extension. The dovecote section includes three-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods, situated below an oval oculus in a square setting. The south and east gables are equipped with pigeon ledges and have blocked openings. The extension features two dormers above two-light casements with leaded glass, as well as a lean-to porch. This building is included in the heritage listing primarily for its group value with the Sheephouse, for which it was originally constructed.
