Description

This is an early 17th-century farmhouse, extended in the mid- to late 17th century, with an early 19th-century stable block attached. It is constructed of random rubble and ashlar limestone, with coursed rubble used for the stable, and has stone slate roofing. The farmhouse is two storeys with an attic. The east front shows the earliest part to the left, featuring a full gable with a single window on each floor: a 3-light window on the ground and upper floors, and a 2-light window in the attic, all with recessed cavetto surrounds and hood moulds. A small stair-light is visible at upper-floor level, with a projecting stair turret having a catslide roof. The range continues to the right, with a moulded doorway leading to a plank door, alongside two 2-light casements, all under a combined hood mould. Above are two grouped 3-light casements. The later 17th-century addition on the right has a full parapet gable with a 2-light window on the ground floor, a 3-light window above, and a 2-light window in the attic, all recessed and chamfered with hood moulds and leaded iron casements; the attic casement has lead latticing. A single light is positioned on the upper floor to the left. A ridge-mounted chimney indicates the position of the original north gable end, with a slight change in ridge height at this point. A parapet gable is present on the north gable end, with a chimney having a moulded cap. The west side displays a projecting chimney stack with a moulded cap to the gable of the south cross-wing, and a lean-to outbuilding below. An addition to the north includes a gabled stair turret with 2-light recessed chamfered lead latticed casements and two further 2-light casements to the right. The stable block projects forward to the left, featuring segmental arched openings, and a loft doorway in the west gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
