Description

The Cottage is a building that was originally two cottages but has been combined into one. It dates from the 17th century, with extensions added in the late 18th to early 19th century and further modifications in the mid to late 19th century. The central part of the building is constructed from limestone rubble and features a concrete tile roof. The extension on the right is made of limestone rubble with a slate roof, while the left extension is built from coursed squared and dressed limestone, also with a slate roof. The building has ashlar and brick stacks.

The central 17th-century section is one and a half storeys tall with an attic, while the late 18th to early 19th-century extension to the right and the mid to late 19th-century extension to the left are both two storeys high. On the southeast entrance front of the 17th-century range, there is a gablet at the upper right. The ground floor features a three-light casement window with horizontal glazing bars, and there are two three-light casements with leaded panes on the first floor, along with a small single light window near the apex of the gablet. There is a 19th-century part-glazed door located lower left, set within a 19th-century gabled timber porch, and a blocked doorway to the right of the porch.

The right extension includes a two-light casement on the ground floor and a three-light casement on the first floor, along with a 19th-century plank door lower left within a gabled timber porch. The left extension features single 12-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors, and a three-light dormer. Gable-end stacks are present on the building. The interior has not been inspected.
