Description

No. 9 Gosditch Street is an early 19th-century building originally used as an opticians. The front is made of ashlar, while the sides are constructed from coursed squared limestone, and the rear is covered in cement render. It features a hipped Welsh slate roof on the right that leans against the adjacent Old Bank House (No. 7) on the left, with no visible chimney stack. The building is three stories tall and has a one-window range. On the first floor, there is an 8/8-pane sash window in a plain reveal, and on the second floor, there is a similar 4/8-pane sash window. The shopfront, which is made of hardwood and dates from the 20th century, is recessed in a plain reveal and has a stone floating cornice above it. The building has a shallow plinth and cill bands on the first and second floors, topped with a coped parapet. There is a 20th-century two-storey brick extension at the rear, along with a further single-storey brick extension. The interior has not been inspected.
