Description

High Cross is a medieval cross that stands on a 15th-century base in Cirencester's West Market Place. It is made of limestone and features a cross atop an octagonal shaft, which has a boss with carved decoration. The square-section stone base is decorated with pointed tracery and a band of quatrefoils, and it has a double-chamfered top. The cross was removed from the Market Place in the 18th century due to its dilapidated condition and was placed in Cirencester Park. It was re-erected at its current location in 1927.
