Description
This is a detached cottage located immediately south of Pear Tree Cottage in Down Ampney, dating from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof and stone end stacks. The cottage has a single front range and a rear extension that is partly from the 20th century. It stands two storeys high and features three gables on the front, each with a 2-light stone mullion window that has a square hoodmould and original iron lattice casements. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows flanking a central gabled ashlar porch, which has a square hoodmould above a square arch and a 20th-century inner door. The cottage forms a cohesive group with Pear Tree Cottage to the north and Hampton Cottage to the south.
