Description
No. 20 Down Ampney Village is a detached house that was formerly a farmhouse, built in the early to mid-19th century. The structure is made of coursed and dressed stone, featuring flush quoins and dressings, and has a stone slate roof with stone end stacks that have an offset and moulded cornice. The house has a single front range with two rear ranges, standing two storeys tall with an attic.
The façade is adorned with four small gables, each featuring small paired iron glazing bar casements and stone lintels. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows with flush stone lintels and quoins, while the ground floor has three similar 12-pane sash windows. To the right of the centre, in the third bay, there is a wide gabled porch with a chamfered triangular-headed archway. The inner door of the porch consists of six panels, with the top two being glazed and the rest flush. Internal shutters are still present on the front of the ground floor.
