BAUNTON WELSH WAY SP 00 NW (south side) 6/21 Field Barn and open-fronted cart shed

Barn and cart-shed dated 'A.D. 1769' on the right-hand jamb of the east facing porch. Coursed squared and dressed limestone with finely dressed quoins; stone slate roof to barn; corrugated asbestos to the cart-shed. Cruciform plan to barn with an 'L'- shaped cart-shed at the north-east corner. Single-storey extension and pigsties at the south gable end of the barn, not of special interest. Projecting gabled porch off-centre left on the east side, similar porch opposite, both with plank doors. Round-headed ventilation slit with dressed stone surround to the gable of the east-facing porch. Single-width doorway to the left-hand return of the same. Blocked pitching window to the right of the projecting porch on the opposite side. Partially blocked pitching window to the south gable end. Square ventilation holes in the side walls and south gable end. Interior: 5 bays roof trusses and rafters replaced late C19 with king post trusses with iron bolt fastenings. Open-fronted cart-shed comprises a short range of two open-fronted bays and a longer range of ten open-fronted bays, divided by square stone-built piers.
