Description

This barn, located approximately 20 meters east of Church Farm, dates from the late 17th century to the mid-18th century, although it may represent the rebuilding of an earlier structure. It is constructed from random limestone, including some squared and dressed limestone blocks, with a projecting porch made of coursed squared and dressed limestone. The barn has a long rectangular shape, with an off-centre right projecting porch and a later lean-to set back to the left of the porch. There is also a lean-to at the left gable end and an open-fronted shed attached at the rear right, which is not of special interest.

The central double plank doors with a timber lintel are located at the projecting porch, above which is a bull's-eye window featuring four keystones in the gable. Opposite the projecting porch, there are double plank doors in the wall. The later lean-to, which is set back to the left of the projecting porch, partially obscures a possibly reused blocked pointed archway with a stopped hood that formerly opened into the porch. There is a plank door in the left-hand return of the lean-to and another at the front of the lean-to at the left gable end. The gable of the projecting porch has flat coping and a roll-cross saddle at its apex. An open-sided lantern with a pyramidal roof and pointed finial is also present. The roof timbers of the barn were not visible during the last survey in October 1985.
