Description

The Old Farmhouse is a former farmhouse dating from the late 18th century, now divided into three separate residences. The main part of the building features incised render, while the former dairy is constructed from roughly squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins. The property has ashlar stacks, most of which were restored in the 20th century, and an artificial stone slate roof.

The rectangular main body of the farmhouse faces away from the road, with a former dairy and service wing at the rear that faces the road. A 20th-century lean-to porch has been added to the main body, but it is not of special interest. The main section is two storeys high, with a 1.5-storey range at the back. The symmetrical facade has three windows, featuring cross-mullioned windows with 2-light casements at the bottom, plain architraves with keystones, a band between the floors, and a moulded eaves cornice. The entrance includes a fielded 6-panel door, with the upper two panels glazed. The service and dairy range at the rear has single-light, 2-light, and 3-light casements, some with segmental heads. There are also two dormers on the roadside front, one with three lights and one with four lights, both with hipped eaves. The main body has a hipped roof, as does the north gable end of the dairy and service range. The building has gable-end and axial stacks, and the main body originally featured sash windows. The interior has not been inspected. The property is part of the Stowell Park Estate.
