CHEDWORTH STOWELL MILL SP 01 SE 3/101 The Old Farmhouse

GV II

Former farmhouse now in three occupations. Late C18. Main body; incised render; former dairy coursed roughly squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins; ashlar stacks (mostly restored C20); artificial stone slate roof. Rectangular main body facing away from the road with former dairy/service wing at rear facing road. C20 lean-to porch to main body not of special interest. Main body: 2 storeys with 1 1/2 storey range at rear. Symmetrical, 3-windowed facade lit by cross-mullioned windows with 2-light casements at the bottom, with plain architraves with keystones; band between floors; moulded eaves cornice. Fielded 6-panel door with the two upper panels glazed Single-light, 2 and 3-light casements some with segmental heads to the service/dairy range at rear. One 3-light and one 4-light hipped eaves dormer to roadside front. Hipped roof to main body. Hipped roof to the north gable end of dairy/service range. Gable-end and axial stack. The main body formerly had sash windows. Interior not inspected. (Stowell Park Estate)
