Description

Broadwell Farm is a detached house with an attached store, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring large dressed quoins and stone slate roofs, with ashlar stacks. The house has an 'L' shaped plan, extending back to the rear left with a stair projection. There is a 20th-century extension at the gable end of the rear, which is not of special interest. The rectangular plan includes a hay store and yard entrance attached to the front right.

The house is two storeys high with an attic, while the yard entrance is two storeys with a single-storey store attached to the right. The front of the house has five bays and is a four-windowed facade, illuminated by stone-mullioned cross windows with leaded lights. There is a 20th-century part-glazed door with glazing bars set within a plain surround, located off-centre to the right. A continuous drip mould runs over the ground floor windows. The gable-end features saddleback coping with a ball finial at the apex and on the kneelers at the eaves. An axial stack is positioned off-centre to the right, with a gable-end stack at the rear. The yard entrance consists of three bays, with the central bay forming the entrance to the yard, featuring early plank cladding and a pitching door leading to the hay loft on the right side of the entrance. The interiors have not been inspected.
