Description

Briar is a detached house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with large dressed quoins. The roof is covered in concrete tiles, with stone slate to a 19th-century extension on the left side. There are the remnants of ashlar stacks, with some rendered and repaired in brick. The house has a rectangular plan for the main body, with later 19th-century extensions to the left gable end.

The main body of the house is two storeys and an attic, with a single casement window in the right gable end. It has a three-bay, two-windowed front facade. A 20th-century gabled porch is located to the lower left. The front door and porch were originally positioned in the centre of the facade, but a three-light casement window has since been inserted in the blocked opening. To the left, there is a two-storey, two-windowed extension, with a central 20th-century part-glazed door. A further extension to the left features a front lean-to with double part-glazed 20th-century doors. The interior remains uninspected.
