Description
The gate piers to Farmington Lodge, dating from the mid to late 18th century, are constructed from ashlar stone. They consist of a pair of square piers at the end of the road leading to Farmington Lodge. The piers feature ramped walls that curve forward on either side, leading to smaller subsidiary piers. The total span of the piers and the adjoining walls is approximately 13 meters. The main piers are topped with moulded cappings and ball finials, while the walls on either side stand about 1 meter high. The subsidiary piers are capped with pyramidal tops.
