Description
This is a barn located on the east side of the track to Folly Farm, dating from the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with dressed stone quoins and features a stone slate roof on the south pitch, while the rear is covered with slate. The barn has a rectangular plan and includes a projecting porch added to the south, with a lean-to at the rear that has since been demolished, leaving only the east wall.
The south front displays a gabled porch that projects forward to the left. To the right of the porch is a blocked doorway with a dressed stone surround and keystone, while a similar blocked doorway with a timber lintel is located opposite. There are partially demolished stone steps leading up to a plank door for the loft at the west gable end, with a ventilation slit positioned above the door. The east gable end features a pitching window and additional ventilation slits, and both gables have flat coping.
Inside, the barn consists of four bays with original collar and tie beam roof trusses, which include raking struts. The westernmost bay contains a loft within the roof space, separated by a wattle and daub partition above the tie beam. The barn also has a flagged threshing floor.
