Description
Millbrook House is a detached house dated 1720, with additions and restoration carried out by Sir Guy Dawber in 1890. The rainwater head on the building is dated and initialled RCF 1890 at the left end. The house is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof and features ashlar stacks. The main body of the house is rectangular, with a 19th-century extension at the rear that forms an almost rectangular plan.
It stands two storeys tall with an attic, which is illuminated by three full dormers that have double-chamfered stone-mullioned cross windows, complete with stopped hoods and leaded panes. The seven-windowed facade is enhanced by larger windows that feature continuous drip moulds above. On the ground floor, there are two 12-pane sash windows located at the lower right. The central entrance consists of a 19th-century panelled door with a moulded surround and a 'Tudor'-arched stone canopy supported by moulded stone brackets. The rear extensions are designed in a similar style. The gable-end coping is roll-moulded, and there are twin gable-end stacks.
The interior was restored in the late 19th century and includes a late 19th-century staircase in the Jacobean style.
