Description

SHERBORNE - SP 11 SE 4/155 Duckleston Mill II

Former mill, now house. C17-early C18 with minor extensions C19. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, dressed stone quoins. Stone slate roof, ashlar stacks. 'L'-shaped plan. 1 1/2 storeys. Entrance front with gabled half dormer left, lit by 2-light double- chamfered stone-mullioned casements. Two-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with horizontal glazing bars to ground floor. Two and 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements to gable of cross wing to right. C20 plank door off-centre right. Inscription 'FOR GRINDING AND CHAFIN 4D A BUSHEL' incised into stone lintel over doorway in right-hand return. Two half dormers with 2-light stone-mullioned casements above. Undershot wheel formerly at north gable end. Gable-end and lateral stacks. Ashlar stacks with moulded skirtings. Interior not inspected.
