Description

The former wheelwright's forge and adjoining pigsty, located about 20 meters north of No 1 in Sherborne Village, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and features an ashlar stack. The building has an 'L'-shaped plan, with the pigsty at the gable end of the wing that runs forward to the left of the main body. It is a single-storey structure with two open bays divided by a square stone-built pier. The right-hand bay is currently blocked with weatherboarding and corrugated iron, while there is an unglazed casement window to the right. To the left, there is a two-light unglazed casement and a plank door. The stump of the ashlar stack is located at the left gable end of the main body, and there are remains of the forge and bellows at the left-hand end of the main body.
