Description
Elm Tree Cottage is a detached house dating from the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, featuring a stone slate roof on the front pitch and artificial stone slate at the rear, along with 20th-century stone stacks. The main body of the house is rectangular, with two storeys and an attic that is lit by three 20th-century two-light roof dormers.
The front facade includes two, three, and four-light hollow-moulded stone-mullioned casement windows with stopped hoods on both the ground and first floors. To the left of the front door, there is a single light window with double-chamfered stone-mullioned jambs. The front door, which is off-centre to the left, is a 20th-century plank door with decorative strap hinges. At the rear of the main body, there are 20th-century stone-mullioned casements. The house has stacks at both gable ends. The interior has not been inspected.
