Description
The Mead House is a detached house built in the mid-19th century. It features coursed squared and dressed limestone with a stone slate roof and ashlar stacks. The building has a 'T'-shaped plan and a symmetrical facade with one and a half storeys. The front has three small gables, each lit by two-light stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods on the first floor. On either side of the central porch, there are two and three-light stone-mullioned casements, each with a single hood over the pairs of windows. All casements have leaded panes. The central entrance consists of a four-panel front door set within a projecting stone porch that has a hipped roof. There are single-storey extensions with hipped roofs on either side of the main body and at the gable end of the rear extension. Gable-end stacks are set on plinths, and all stacks have moulded cappings. The property is owned by the National Trust.
