Description
Bourton Lodge is a lodge to Sherborne House, built in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate roof with an ashlar stack. The building has a basically rectangular plan with projecting bays, although there are 20th-century flat-roofed canted extensions that are not of special interest. It is a single-storey structure.
On the entrance front, there is a bay that projects forward to the left of the front door. This bay contains paired 8-pane sash windows set within moulded architraves, with similar single sash windows on the returns. There is a paired sash window to the left of the bay and a fielded, 7-panel door with a moulded surround to the right of the bay, accompanied by another paired sash window to the right of the door. The building is topped with a band and modillion cornice, a hipped roof, and an axial stack with moulded capping. The interior has not been inspected.
