Description
Northcote and Westcote are a pair of semi-detached cottages dating from the 17th century. They are constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone and feature a concrete tile roof with 20th-century stone stacks. The main body of the cottages has an 'L'-shaped plan. There are small lean-to and 20th-century flat-roofed extensions that are not of special interest. The cottages are 1½ storeys high.
Northcote has a garden front with a two-light stone-mullioned casement that has a stopped hood and a gable above it. There are also two large top-opening casements, one with an early stopped hood and the other with a 20th-century stopped hood. A reused stone-mullioned window surround, hewn from a single stone block, is located above the left-hand window. Access to Northcote is through a 20th-century plank door, with a damaged reused stone window surround to the left of the door. The cottage features axial, gable-end, and lateral stacks.
Westcote is also 1½ storeys high and has two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. Access is provided via a 20th-century part-glazed door located in the right gable end. The interior has not been inspected. The property is owned by the National Trust.
