Description

Nos 7 and 8 Sherborne are a pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid-17th century. They are constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone, with finer detailing used at the front. The roof is covered in stone slates, with an ashlar stack and a 20th-century stone stack. The houses have a rectangular plan, with 20th-century extensions to the rear that are not of particular interest.

The two-storey, five-windowed facade features two, three-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casement windows with stopped hoods on the ground floor, and two two-light hollow-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods on the first floor. Three further two-light stone-mullioned casements are 20th century. All stone-mullioned casements have horizontal glazing bars, except for one 20th-century two-light casement with leaded panes. In the centre of the facade is a lean-to porch with a concrete tile roof, sheltering two part-glazed 20th-century doors. A doorway has been blocked to the left of the left-hand door. Stacks are located at the gable end of the main body of the building. This group value is based on the buildings’ architectural and historic significance.
