Description

The John Edmonds monument is a pedestal tomb located about 6.5 meters north of the main door in the grounds of Fairford United Church. It dates from the mid-18th century and is associated with the Edmonds family. The monument is made of limestone and has a square shape, featuring a badly broken moulded cap, a moulded plinth and capping, a fluted frieze, and quarter baluster corners. There is low relief carving on the panels, which includes the name John Edmonds with the date 1740 on the west side, John with the date 1791 (possibly) on the south side, and ------- Darby with the date 1837 (possibly) on the east side. The monument measures approximately 1,200 millimeters by 1,200 millimeters and stands about 1,680 millimeters high.
