Description

The Jacob Betterton monument is a chest tomb located about 13 meters north of the main door in the grounds of Fairford United Church. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and commemorates Jacob Betterton, who died in 1835. The monument is made of limestone and features a bold tent top, heavy moulded capping, and a moulded plinth that is partly buried. The sides have fielded panels, and the ends are fielded and semi-cylindrical. The dimensions of the tomb are approximately 1,820 millimeters long, 870 millimeters wide, and 1,100 millimeters high.
