Description

The Edmonds Tomb, located approximately 9 metres to the south of the Church of the Holy Trinity, is a pedestal tomb dating from around 1827. It is constructed of ashlar and has a square plan. The tomb features a projecting base with a chamfered top and roll-moulded corners, along with a projecting chamfered top that is topped with a globe finial. The side panels are oval in shape. The northern side of the tomb is inscribed with the words: "Sacred/To the Memory of/WILLIAM EDMONDS/of Pentre/who/died Augst 31 1860/Aged 70 Years." An earlier inscription was found to be illegible during a re-survey in July 1984.
