Description
Bromleysmill is a cottage built in 1845, as indicated by the date in Roman numerals on a wooden plaque on the gable. The building is constructed from random limestone rubble and features plain tiled roofs. A prominent red brick stack with three attached star-shaped shafts adds to its character. The style is a mix of Tudor-Gothic and Swiss-chalet influences, and the cottage has a roughly T-shaped plan with 20th-century extensions to the side and rear.
The cottage is two storeys high and has a symmetrical arrangement of windows, with one window on each side of a slight gabled projection to the right. The mid-19th century casement windows are topped with wooden labels. The entrance is roughly central, positioned at an angle with the gable, and features a boarded door with a Tudor arch beneath a gabled porch. All the gables are adorned with scrollwork bargeboards and broken finials.
