Description

15 Dollar Street is a shop with a flat above, dating from the early 18th century, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The front is made of coursed squared limestone rubble, which is now painted, while the sides have rendered gables. The rear has been rebuilt in reconstituted stone, featuring a single-storey reconstituted stone extension, and the roof is covered with artificial slate, with no chimneys present. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range.

On the first floor, there are two 6/6-pane sash windows set in plain reveals with stone cills. The ground floor includes a through-passage to the left with a plain reveal and a beaded lintel. To the right, there is a 19th-century shopfront featuring a two-light window with a moulded timber mullion and a 20th-century glazed door with a single-pane overlight to the left. This door is framed by a panelled pilaster strip on the left, topped with a carved console bracket featuring a lion's head on a block above. The frieze has a blind box and a cornice with egg-and-dart moulding, which stops against the left-hand pilaster of the matching shopfront of No. 17 Dollar Street. The building has two gabled dormers with 20th-century two-light timber casements. The first floor is noted for having an entirely 20th-century appearance, suggesting that the building may have been rebuilt behind the front wall. This property is included for its group value.
