8/180 Unidentified memorial, about 6m north east of path crossing in churchyard of Church of St. Mary

GV II

Chest tomb. Late C18. Limestone. Flat top, cyma recta moulded plinth on broken base, and cyma recta moulded capping. Heavy lyre ends with cherub holding book to west and cherub head on returns, and cartouche with cherub head and wings to east with foliage returns. North panel has large oval with drapery festoons, inscription obliterated. South panel with flanking relief strips and plain centre inscription panel. Name of "Joseph M-----es" is just visible.
