Description
No 1, The Green is an almshouse that forms the end cottage in a terrace. It dates from the late 16th century to early 17th century and is constructed of rubble stone, with thinly coursed stone on the right return and flush long and short quoins. The roof is made of Cotswold stone slate and features two rebuilt stone stacks. The building has an L-shape with a projecting wing at the rear and stands two storeys high.
The gable to the right has a single light window, while the front has three windows: the original two-light stone mullions are located at the centre and left, and there is a renewed three-light stone mullion on the right. The ground floor mirrors this arrangement, with all windows featuring square hoodmoulds and splayed flush sills. To the left, there is a 20th-century half-glazed door with splayed jambs and long and short quoins. The right return, facing the churchyard, also has two two-light stone mullions on each floor. Most of the original windows are fitted with iron leaded casements. Additionally, the rear wall displays a stone sundial above the first-floor window.
