Description
The Tithe House is an end house in a terrace, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with quoins at the left corner and features a Cotswold stone slate roof. The house has one brick stack on the left gable, a small stone stack at the rear gable, and a large stone stack with paired diagonally set ashlar flues on the right side. The building presents a large gable to the street, with a central cross gable; the left side of this gable is half-hipped. There is a 2-storey projection at the front, level with the adjacent house, No. 12. The house has two storeys and an attic. The projecting section includes a single square fixed light with a square hood mould on each floor. The main gable features a 4-light stone mullion and transom window on the first floor, a 2-light window in the attic, and a triple 19th-century sash window on the ground floor, all with square hood moulds, some of which have been partly restored. A 20th-century half-glazed door with a pedimented doorcase is located on the left return. There are two blocked original windows and other 20th-century windows towards the rear. At the top of the front gable, there is a small blocked arched vent.
