Description
5 Swan Cottages is a Grade II listed building located in Bibury, originally two houses but now a single house attached to No 3. It dates from the mid to late 17th century, with a 20th-century linking section. The structure is built of random rubble limestone, featuring ashlar chimneys and a stone slate roof.
The building is two stories high, with a parallel two-story house to the south that has been linked to create a larger residence. The front elevation has a single-window layout on the left gable end, featuring two 2-light recessed chamfered mullioned casements with hoodmoulds, where the ground floor casement is a larger 19th-century replacement. There are two raking buttresses at the ground floor. The south gable end has a single-window 2-light mullioned fenestration, with a later ground floor casement inserted to the left. On the south side, there are two half gables on the north building, each with a 2-light casement, although the right one is partly obscured by the later linking addition. The north side has a full gable with a rebuilt chimney. The interior has not been inspected.
