Description

BEVERSTON - ST 89 NE 3/19 Barn to north-west of Chavenage Manor Farmhouse, and adjoining animal shelter GV II

Barn and adjoining animal shelter on north west side. Probably late C18. Coursed rubble stone with stone slate roof to front, concrete tiles to rear, half hipped. South side has central large projecting hipped cart entry with segmental stone arch above timber lintel with split double timber doors and flush quoins. Segmental arch on wall plane on inside of entry. Flanking lean-to former animal shelters of 3 bays each side with cylindrical rubble stone piers, bays all partially or completely filled in. North side has flush similar cart entry with segmental arch but one door missing, and flanking segmental headed shuttered pitch holes. Seven bays, roof structure renewed in C20. Five-bay animal shelter on north east side open on south with end bay partly filled in, and with similar piers dividing bays.
