Description

Upton Lodge is a detached house that began as three cottages in the late 17th century. It was restored and enlarged in 1934. The house is constructed of rubble stone with alternating quoins, and has a roof of Cotswold stone-slates. It features three original ashlar stacks with moulded caps on the older part of the building. It comprises a single long range dating from the late 17th century, to which three gables were added to the rear, creating the current front facade. The house has two storeys and an attic. The original front facade has four windows, with two-light stone mullions and square hood moulds. Four small gabled dormers with 20th-century casements are visible in the roof. The ground floor has been altered, with doorways removed, but retains two original three-light stone-mullion windows with square hood moulds.
