Description
Chavenage Manor Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse that was enlarged at the rear in the 19th century. It is built of rubble stone on a chamfered plinth at two heights, with the central section possibly being the older core. The stone slate roof features coped verges and stone ridge stacks, with a moulded cornice on the left side. The building has cross gables on the left and center, and a projecting gabled wing on the right, forming an L-shape with a rear projecting stair turret and a small single-storey wing in the angle, as well as a 19th-century extension to the rear left. The farmhouse has two storeys and an attic, with four windows, mostly consisting of 2-light stone mullions with leaded casements, including one similar window on each gable. The ground floor features a blocked chamfered stone three-centred archway nearly at the center, and a six-panel door to the left with a timber lintel, along with a small buttress between marking a change in the height of the plinth. There is one 2-light stone mullion window to the left and 20th-century casements to the right. The rear and side windows are mostly stone, some with square hoodmoulds. The interior is not accessible.
