Description

BEVERSTON - ST 89 NE 3/18 Chavenage Manor Farmhouse GV II

Farmhouse. C17, enlarged to rear in C19. Rubble stone on chamfered plinth at 2 heights, central section possibly older core, stone slate roof with coped verges, stone ridge stacks, with moulded cornice to left. Cross gables to left and centre and projecting gabled wing to right forming L-shape with rear projecting stair turret, small single storey wing in angle, and Cl9 extension to rear left. Two storeys and attic. Four windows, mostly 2-light stone mullions with leaded casements with one similar to each gable. Ground floor has blocked chamfered stone 3- centred archway nearly central, and 6-panel door to left with timber lintel, with small buttress between marking change in height of plinth. One 2-light stone mullion to left and C20 casements to right. Rear and side fenestration also mostly stone, partly with square hoodmoulds. Interior not accessible.
