Description
Jenners Farmhouse is a large farmhouse that likely originated in the late 16th century. It was expanded to the south in the 17th century, with a linking wing added in the early 18th century, along with some 20th-century additions. The building is constructed of rubble stone, featuring a partially roughcast south front and partially coursed stone with quoins in the linking wing. It has a stone slate roof and stone stacks with moulded cornices at the ends and rear ridge.
The farmhouse has a large L-shaped layout, with the oldest section being a single storey and attic located in the northeast corner. The 17th-century range is two storeys and attic, spanning the south front and featuring a rear cross gable, which may have originally served as a stair tower. The linking wing is also two storeys. The main facade facing south has two gables, each adorned with 2, 3, and 4-light stone mullion windows that have square hoodmoulds. The ground floor features a continuous square hoodmould over a central 20th-century glazed door, with a 2-light stone mullion window above on the first floor.
Both the east and west ends of the building have stone-framed windows that are blocked. The 18th-century wing at the back includes a 4-panel door, with two fielded panels and two flush panels, and a 20th-century stone porch. To the left, there is a 16-pane sash window in a flush stone surround on both the first and ground floors. The northeast corner wing has two small hipped dormers. The ground floor features a 3-light stone mullion window with a square hoodmould to the right, an original blocked doorway in the centre with a timber lintel, and a 20th-century window with a timber lintel to the left. The interior is not accessible but may be of interest.
