Description
The building is a barn and adjoining former animal shelter, now used as stables, located at Pond Farm. It dates from the late 18th century. The structure is made of random coursed rubble stone, which is painted on the south side of the shelter, and features alternating flush quoins on the barn. The roof is made of stone slate and has a hipped southwest corner for the shelter.
The barn likely consists of seven bays, although the entire interior is not accessible. It has central opposed projecting gabled cart entries, which are topped with a segmental relieving arch and timber lintel. The east side has double doors, while the west side has partly glazed doors that are blocked in. There are stable doors on the south side of both the barn and the shelter, along with a timber partition wall south of the entries. Scattered slit vents are present throughout.
The shelter originally had ten open bays supported by tapering rubble columns, but these have now been infilled with a stable door and small barred windows to the right. There is also a door in the end bay to the east.
