Description
Street Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It has been enlarged at the front to create an L-shape, with a small later 18th-century range at the angle and a 19th-century range set back to the southeast. The building is roughcast faced on a rendered plinth and features a sprocketed and hipped stone slate roof, with scattered stone stacks, including a large stack at the right end of the angle range.
The L-shaped range has two storeys and an attic, while the angle range also has two storeys, accompanied by a single-storey painted brick lean-to at the rear. The front elevation consists of five bays, with three 12-pane sash windows on the first floor, which have blocked former openings between them. The ground floor has four similar windows and a central door made of six bolection-moulded panels, topped with a decorative large transom light. There are two 19th-century gables with dormers featuring 6-pane sashes above the second and fourth bays, and two similar dormers on the left-hand return, which otherwise has paired 8-pane casements.
The rear wall of the angle wing retains one chamfered 2-light stone mullion and transom on the first floor. The angle wing also has two original small-leaded large casement pairs. A raking 19th-century porch in brick is located on the left-hand return. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to contain panelled rooms that are likely of interest.
