Description
These are two adjoining cottages located on The Street in Shipton Moyne. The core of the cottages dates from the early 19th century, with an additional bay added to the left side in the 20th century. They are constructed of roughcast-faced rubble stone, set on a rubble plinth, and feature raised alternating quoins. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, and a stone stack rises from the ridge between the cottages, slightly right of centre. Originally designed as a symmetrical pair, the left bay is a 20th-century addition and contains a three-light window on each floor. The original windows are single-light on the exterior and two-light towards the centre; these are arched, with moulded stone surrounds and square hoodmoulds to the ground floor. The windows to the right (No 42) have leaded casements with Y tracery, while those of No 44 have replaced metal casements. A central Tudor-arched doorway leads to a plank door, topped with a flat hood supported by console brackets.
