Description

Winson Mill is a former mill and miller's house located over the River Coln. It dates from the 18th century and was converted for domestic use around 1935. The building features coursed squared and dressed limestone with dressed stone quoins and a stone slate roof. There is one rendered stack and another restored in the 20th century using artificial dressed stone. The miller's house, which is a long rectangular structure, is situated at the north end of the property. There are 20th-century lean-to extensions at the rear that are not of special interest.

The building has two storeys and an attic, with irregular fenestration that includes 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned casements, several of which were inserted in the early to mid-20th century. To the right-hand bay, there are two 12-pane sash windows, while the house part features one single-light and one 3-light wooden casement. Additionally, there are two 2-light hipped half dormers. A tail race can be seen emerging from a flat-arched opening under the far left-hand bay, with a round-headed arch at the rear.

At the center of the former miller's house, there is a 20th-century plank door with fillets and a projecting gabled canopy on brackets. The former mill has a 20th-century double segmental-headed glass door. The building has a gable-end and axial stack, and the machinery has been removed from the interior, which was not inspected.
