Description

This pair of drive piers dates from approximately 1820 to 1850, and has undergone later restoration work. They are constructed from stucco over brick, with decorative incised anthemion motifs on the panels, chamfered angles and moulded caps. The piers are topped with carved urn finials. They form a group with a pair of drive piers to the north, and a drive pier to the south, all contributing to a carriage sweep. These piers are an important feature of the streetscape, and integral to the setting of numbers 96 to 104 on Bath Road.
