Description

Numbers 15, 17 and 19 form a group of three houses in an irregular terrace, dating to approximately 1820-1834. They were shown as built on a map of 1834, but not present on an earlier map of 1820. The houses are constructed of stucco over brick, with a slate roof to the left, although the roof is otherwise obscured. Tall brick and stucco party walls, and end stacks are present. Iron railings, window guards and porches are attached to the property.

The houses are two storeys high, with seven first-floor windows (a configuration of 2:3:2). A first-floor band is visible on the central house. Most windows are 6/6 sashes; the fourth first-floor window is blind. The ground floor of the central house contains a wider sash window (1/1 proportions with side-lights and a cambered head). The house to the right has a 1/1 sash window with a tooled architrave on the ground floor, while basement windows are 8/8 sashes, likely original. All windows are in plain reveals with sills.

The central entrance is on the left-hand side, with entrances to the right for the other two properties. Two six-fielded-panel doors (one part-glazed) are present, alongside a more modern door with a lattice frieze and fanlight, all set in plain reveals. The central house has a crowning frieze, and cornices and a blocking course are visible on the central and left-hand houses.

The interior of the property has not been inspected.

Subsidiary features include tent porches; the one on the central house is semicircular with an ornate frieze and scrolls to the uprights. Elaborate window guards, with embellished rods to the left and centre, and panels to the centre, are present; the right-hand side has scrolls. Spearhead railings and a gate with urn finials to the stanchions are located at the front of the central house. Area stick railings are on the right side, and an area balustrade with scrolls is on the left-hand side.
