Description

A terrace of four houses, Numbers 1 to 4, built around 1820 to 1850. The houses are constructed of stucco over brick, with a slate roof and stucco party-wall stacks. They follow a double-depth plan, with varying arrangements including left entrance halls, side stairhalls, and spine halls.

The houses are two storeys high with a basement, and feature 13 first-floor windows (three per house, except for four windows in Number 4). Architectural detailing includes a first-floor band, a frieze, a blocking course, and a coping that rises to the left end. The windows are mostly 6/6 sash windows in plain reveals with sills. One window on the first floor of the left-hand house is an 8/8 sash. The front doors are six-panelled, some with glazed sections. The left-hand entrance has a solid porch with Doric pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course. The centrally positioned right-hand entrance is within a distyle Ionic porch with a pulvinated frieze, a cornice, and a blocking course, with glazing to the sides. Other entrances have fanlights with batwing glazing bars. The rear of the property retains 6/6 sash windows.

The interior was not inspected.

Attached area railings are present, with embellished rods to the left, otherwise arrowhead details, and urn finials to the stanchions. The porches at two of the central entrances feature lattice motifs to the uprights and frieze, with tent roofs. A window guard on the first floor of the left-hand house displays a lattice motif.
