Description

NORTHLEW CROWDEN ROAD, Northlew SX 59 NW 9/225 - No 3 - II Cottage. Circa late C17. Rendered cob walls. Thatch roof gabled to left hipped to right. 2 brick stacks - one at left gable end and one axial. Plan: 2-room plan both heated by end stacks, with probably integral outbuilding at right-hand end. Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 4-window front of later C20 2-light wooden casements without glazing bars, in small openings. C20 part-glazed door to left of centre and plank door to outbuilding on the right. Interior: fireplace blocked in right-hand room but its original chamfered and stopped wooden lintel is visible. Insubstantial ceiling joists are also chamfered with run-out stops. C18 or C19 rough pegged A-frame roof trusses.
