Description

Rectory Cottage is a cottage dating from around the early 18th century. It is constructed of plastered cob and rubble walls, with a thatched, gable-ended roof. Brick stacks are located at each gable end. The original plan comprised two rooms, both now heated by gable-end stacks, although the left-hand room may have previously had a separate stack. Stairs were later inserted into a central entrance passage. A 19th-century rear outshut has been added. The front of the cottage is symmetrical, featuring a modern two and three-light casement window arrangement, with a central, modern lean-to porch containing a stable-style door. Inside, the fireplace in the right-hand room has a plain wooden lintel and an oven incorporated into the left side.
