Description
The barn and linhay at Hooper's Water Farm, located approximately 15 meters west of Nos 1 and 2 Hooper's Water Cottages, date from the early 19th century. The structure is built of coursed slatestone rubble and features corrugated iron roofs, with a half-hipped roof over the barn and a gabled roof over the linhay. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with the linhay attached to the front right of the barn.
The barn has a timber lintel above a central double entry and includes an open-fronted outshut supported by round piers on the left. Stone cheeks flank the rear doorway. The five-bay linhay, also supported by round piers, originally had open bays that have been infilled with stonework from the mid to late 19th century. Inside, the barn has an 11-bay roof and the linhay has a 5-bay roof, both featuring A-frame trusses with pegged collars and notched apexes.
