Description
The stone barn and linhay, located immediately southwest of Beare Farmhouse, is a structure that possibly dates back to the 17th century but has undergone significant modifications in the 19th century. It is built of random rubble volcanic trap and features a dry-slate gabled end roof. The building has an L-shaped plan, with the main barn running parallel to the farmhouse. This barn includes a catslide roof over a weatherboarded outshut and houses a cider press. The linhay, which is at right angles to the barn, has six bays and features a front wagon entrance leading to the farmyard, as well as another entrance to the main road. The roof of the linhay is from the 19th century and includes principals with a king-post, diagonal struts, and a tie-beam.
