Description

Nos. 3 and 4 are a pair of estate cottages built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from coursed rubble volcanic trap and feature a hipped thatched roof. The cottages are two storeys high and have two axial stacks along with one external rear lateral stack. The front façade consists of a four-window range with recessed extensions on either side, both of which originally had entrances; the entrance on the right has been converted into a window. To the left, there is a large bulge for a bake-oven. The central range includes two and three-light casement windows, each with eight panes per light, dating from the 19th century. There are also two entrances that are sheltered by rustic timber porches, which have slate roofs and split timber sides.
