Description

Nether Boundstone Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the 16th to early 17th century, with later alterations. It features colourwashed render over coursed slatestone rubble and cob beneath the eaves, a gabled 20th-century tile roof, a brick stack at the left end, a rendered brick stack at the right end, and a lateral stack at the centre of the front wall, which is made of stone finished in brick. The building has a three-unit plan with a cross-passage to the left of the central hall. It is two storeys high and has a four-window range. The 17th-century plank door, which has moulded ribs, is set in a heavy pegged frame and features a 20th-century hood. There are flat rendered arches over late 19th-century two to three-light casements with glazing bars. The rear elevation includes a 20th-century conservatory, a late 19th-century outshut to the right, and probably a 17th-century outshut at the centre. Inside, there is an 18th-century plank door with strap hinges leading to the room on the left, which has a stop-chamfered beam with pyramidal stops. The first floor contains 19th-century plank doors and 17th-century planks on the floor. Similar to Middle Langdon, this house has the cross passage positioned in the structurally distinct and lower end of the house.
